This is the birth of Mylee Elizabeth, born October 23, 2008 — weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.

✏️ TRANSCRIPT / STORY

Erica: Hi everyone! Before you watch Mylee’s birth video, I just wanted to share a few details we didn’t record or that I had to cut out.

The video starts around 8 a.m. — before that, my water broke at home, and when I got to the hospital, I was already four centimeters dilated. I pushed for three hours (most of that was cut for time). You’ll hear a nurse mention meconium in the water, which is why Mylee was taken to the NICU right after birth and not placed on me immediately.

You’ll also see a nurse using a suction device to help get Mylee past the crowning point. I’d been awake for two days and just needed a little help.

Visiting her in the NICU for the first time was emotional — I was scared and exhausted. At one point, Weston came in and told me, “Her arm is broken!” I panicked until we realized it was just a soft splint holding her IV in place. (We laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn’t funny!)

I left in a few clips of us getting her ready to go home — her first outfit, the car seat, and that moment walking out of the hospital as brand-new parents.

I plan to make another video later about baby blues, postpartum depression, and being a young mom, because those are real and important conversations. Back then, I felt pressure to prove I could handle it all — but I’ve learned that vulnerability is strength.

I hope you enjoy this video. Thumbs up if you do, and if you want to see the twins’ birth video next — that one is crazy! Leave any questions in the comments and I’ll respond. ❤️
